Theodor Eicke, SS-Gruppenführer, born October 17, 1892 in Hampont bei Hudingen in Alsace, Kommandant of Dachau concentration camp, winner of the Iron Cross 2nd Class in World War I, shot several SA leaders during the 1934 SA Purge “The Night of the Long Knives,” Inspector of Concentration Camps and Death’s Head units, commander of the 3rd SS Division “Totenkopf,” winner of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, killed in action on February 26, 1943 in Russia, said on attracting Army soldiers to transfer to the SS: “Bring them from the bars, bring them from the sports clubs, bring them from the barber.
