Dr. Oskar Dirlewanger, SS-Oberführer, born September 26, 1895 in Würzburg, wounded in action in World War I, convicted sex offender, leader of an SS unit of convicted criminals in Poland and Russia, wounded in action, winner of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, helped suppress the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, killed June 7, 1945 at Altshausen/Upper Swabia while in French captivity, said of himself: “Even though I did wrong, I never committed a crime.  (The Cruel Hunters: SS-Sonderkommando Dirlewanger Hitler’s Most Notorious Anti-Partisan Unit)
