Dr. Helmuth Vetter

Dr. Helmuth Vetter, SS-Obersturmführer, born March 21, 1910 in Rastenburg, SS doctor at Dachau, Auschwitz and Mauthausen concentration camps, winner of the War Service Cross 2nd Class, tried and convicted of crimes against humanity, executed by hanging on February 2, 1949 at the Landsberg Military Prison in Landsberg, Germany, last words:

On March 21, 1928, Joseph “Diamond Joe” Esposito, a Ward Republican committeeman, best known for his involvement in bootlegging, extortion, prostitution, and labor racketeering, was hit by five shotgun loads and killed in a drive-by shooting on his front steps.  He was well known for his extravagant clothing and flashy jewelry and was wearing a $5000 diamond ring and his trademark “J.E.” diamond belt buckle when he was gunned down.  His killers were never found.
