Otto Kumm

Otto Kumm, SS-Brigadeführer, born October 1, 1909 in Hamburg, commander of the 7th SS Mountain Division “Prinz Eugen” and the 1st SS Panzer Division “Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler,” winner of the Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords, survived the war and returned to Hamburg, author Prinz Eugen: The History of the 7th SS Mountain Division “Prinz Eugen,” died on March 23, 2004, said of the war: “I am unable to glorify war.  I, who experienced the war for 5½ years on the front, with all of its horror, with the loss of brothers, best friends and trusted comrades, can only curse the war.”  (2,000 Quotes From Hitler’s 1,000-Year Reich)

Konteradmiral Erich Bey

Erich Jacob Bey, Navy Rear Admiral, born March 23, 1898 in Hamburg, commander of the 4th Destroyer Flotilla, commander of the Scharnhorst battle group, winner of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross,  killed in action against British naval forces on the battlecruiser Scharnhorst in the Barents Sea on December 26, 1943, on his final battle aboard the Scharnhorst:
