Alexander Möckel

On March 24, 1945, the commander of the 16th Volksgrenadier Division, Generalmajor Alexander Möckel, was killed in an American air attack at Graben-Neudorf near Speyer, Germany.  Born on March 25, 1896 in Giessen, he fought at Verdun (25th Grand Ducal Hessian Division)  in World War I and at Stalingrad (295th Infantry Division) in World War II.  (Quiet Flows the Rhine, German General Officer Casualties in World War II)
