At Stalingrad on November 13, 1942, the 79th Infantry Division of the LI Corps consolidated its gains at the Krasny Oktyabr Steel Factory (inside white dotted line in photo above) against the 45th Rifle Division. Bitter fighting occurred at Hall 7 and 10. The division lost five NCOs/enlisted killed in action; 17 NCOs/enlisted were wounded in action; two men were reported missing in action. To the north was the 14th Panzer Division; to the south was the 24th Panzer Division. The division headquarters was located at the Razgulyayevka Rail Station. The division reported a Combat/Fighting Strength of 4,304 men; 165 men were in hospital sick and wounded. (Stalingrad: The Death of the German Sixth Army on the Volga, 1942-1943)
