In Stalingrad, on October 27, 1942, the 14th Panzer Division attacked east through the Khost Ravine, reaching the ferry crossing site on the Volga River against the 308th Rifle Division and the 193rd Rifle Division. The division suffered one officer and 21 NCOs/enlisted killed in action; three officers and 103 NCOs/enlisted were wounded in action; seven men were reported missing in action. To the north was the 305th Infantry Division; to the south was the 79th Infantry Division. The 245th Sturmgeschütz Detachment was assigned to the division.
