113th Infantry Division Tactical Symbol

Northwest of Stalingrad, on October 30, 1942 the 113th Infantry Division defended in sector southwest of Samofalovka and north of Borodkin against the 173rd Rifle Division and the 273rd Rifle Division.  The division lost three NCOs/enlisted killed in action; eight NCOs/enlisted were wounded in action.  To the northwest was the 76th Infantry Division; to the east was the 60th Infantry Division (Motorized.)  (Stalingrad: The Death of the German Sixth Army on the Volga, 1942-1943)

Hermann Fegelein, SS-Gruppenführer, born October 30, 1906 in Ansbach, commander of the 8th SS Cavalry Division “Florian Geyer“, wounded in action four times, liaison officer to the Führer, winner of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords, married to Gretl Braun – the sister of Eva Braun, injured in the assassination attempt against Hitler 20 July 1944 at Rastenburg, executed by firing squad on Hitler’s orders April 28, in Berlin, on the Dirlewanger SS Regiment (composed of a large proportion of criminals) in the Warsaw Uprising: “My Führer, they are real low-lifes.”  (2,000 Quotes From Hitler’s 1,000-Year Reich)
