This Date in History: October 31

 

On Tuesday, October 31, 1944, official executioners Major Mortimer H. Christian and Master Sergeant John C. Woods hanged U.S. Army Private First Class Paul M. On October 31, 1941 Reinhard Heydrich, the head of the Security Police, the Security Service (SD) and the Gestapo said the following to Kurt Daleuge, chief of the Order Police concerning establishing a new world order, “Our entire organization of SS and police must therefore already be set up correctly and methodically as an organization for the time when, after the war, the administration and the state go about establishing a new order.”  Heydrich was assassinated less than a year later in Prague.  (2,000 Quotes From Hitler’s 1,000-Year Reich)
