On January 13, 1944, the chain of command for Major Alfred Druschel submitted an officer efficiency report on him. The rater Colonel Hubertus Hitschhold wrote:
“Short Assessment: Lieutenant Colonel Druschel is a sincere, open, decent and exuberant character, with very good mental and physical attributes. Always alert and open to ideas, filled with National Socialistic thinking, he demonstrates mature personal values. His expressed leadership qualities, his outstanding tactical understanding, coupled with unwavering readiness for combat and decision-making ability, have come to full fruition in his service at the front and have come to be expressed in repeated preferential promotions up to his current service grade, as well as the award of the Swords to the Oak Leaves of the Knight’s Cross. In leadership positions as group commander and squadron commander of ground attack units, Lieutenant Colonel Druschel has excelled as both a superior and comrade. In his current activity as Inspector for Ground Attack Units with the General for Ground-Attack Units, he understands how to make use of his various experiences at the front and his energy, prudence and organizational capabilities.” (Luftwaffe Efficiency and Promotion Reports for the Knight’s Cross Winners)
